Getting Over Stage Fright
It is in the Art of being present, that we present ourselves to the world, as a present
With so many opportunities to perform online videos during this time of Shelter in Place, I thought a few lessons on getting over Stage fright would be a powerful way to inspire each one of us a new way to feature our individual voices and talents to the world.
Whether it's a Ted Talk inspired lesson, a performance art piece, or even an online video resume you would like to upload to a Company you are applying for, these fun and simple exercises will give you the confidence you need to Shine.
When I was a kid, I was the weirdo, the outcast, the "George Mcfly" (From Back to the future, movie) of the class for more than 11 years of Grade school and High school combined, and it wasn't until I landed the lead role as a 4th grader in the 4th and 5th grade production of "Christina the Christmas doll" 1974 That I realized just how rewarding and soul fulfilling it is to be a star, and disappear into another world as someone else, and consequently receive the resulting praise, respect, and heartfelt gratitude for the inspiration to do the same, from the audience.
I can show you how fun and easy it is to set aside societal/parental co-created selves and disappear into another someone, and feel the rewarding personal power that comes from performing, not just as any someone else, but as themselves as someone else.
It was in 2017 back stage of "Twelfth Night" That it dawned on me what it is to be an actor, and this phrase came to mind, as I wrote it at the top of my script.
It is in the art of being present, that we present our selves to the world, as a present.
